This latest story fits in between the events of Mage of the Teir’Dal and Fall of Bastion, so if you’re new to the EverQuest Next universe and want to get things in chronological order, I suggest starting with “Mage”. Better still, go through them all in sequence, but make sure you wait for The Arch Mage: Part Two before you go onto the double-header of The Last Stand of the Teir’Dal and Fall of Bastion!
